Council of the Village of Salmo is considering joining an intercommunity business license (ICBL) program that allows Salmo businesses to do business in the neighbouring communities of Rossland, Castlegar, Creston, Nelson and Kaslo for a fee of $85. Similarly, businesses in those neighbouring communities who purchase an ICBL will also be eligible to do business in Salmo. Council will consider moving forward with this pilot program for 2018. Please provide your input and thoughts on or before Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at 4:30pm.
Eligible business types are those that “perform a service or activity within more than on participating local government by moving from client to client rather than having clients come to them.” There are currently 22 business in Salmo eligible to participate in this program.
At the invitation of CAO Diane Kalen-Sukra, Darby Cameron, Senior Policy Analyst for the BC Government’s Small Business Division made a presentation to Council at the November 14th, 2017 Council meeting that can be found here.
