Hello Citizens of Salmo,

Our community along with the rest of the world is facing an enormous uncertainty during this time. The health and wellness of our staff and our community is paramount. As we evolve each day through this pandemic, I encourage you stay informed and two ways of doing that are through two different websites —  Government of Canada’s Coronavirus information Canada.ca/en/public-health and BC Centre for Disease Control covid-19.bccdc.ca. You may also look at the Villages website – Salmo.ca – for information.

We are doing everything we can to keep people healthy and each one of you can do your part by staying home and if you are needing to go out –KEEP YOUR DISTANCE!

We have closed the KP Park playground and the School District has closed the Elementary School playground. The RCMP will also be monitoring these sites.

This is a hard time for many people, and we understand that. The quicker our province gets this message the better for every citizen in BC.  The province has just announced a $5B aid package for individuals and businesses.  Further details and information links are available on our website.

I would like to say how impressed I am with our community and how you have responded to this situation we all face. We have people in our community that are helping in ways like healthcare, groceries, and fuel.

I am putting out a challenge to see how many hearts we can put up in our community’s windows to show our support for what we are doing.  Show your support by making yourself a paper or painted heart and posting it in your window!

Stay healthy,
Mayor Lockwood
