Everyone is invited to see the unveiling of the work of local artists on display in the new Village Art Windows along Main Street at the Grand Opening of Heritage Hub Inc. on May 20th from 1-5 pm. The three Village Art Windows were constructed to provide an opportunity for Salmo Valley and Kootenay region artists to showcase their work in a way that is visible to pedestrians walking along Salmo’s Main Street and street traffic. The art windows help to support the arts and encourage visitors to explore Salmo.
Submissions were reviewed by a panel made up of the Council representative with the arts portfolio, a Chief Administrative Officer, and a representative of project partner Heritage Hub Inc. The successful applicants were:
- Monte Comeau – Wildlife Photographer, Salmo Valley
- Emma Kjelson – Textile Artist, Slocan Valley
- Ms. Hatt’s Grade 3/ 4 Class – Working with Local Artist Lucy Helberg
The art will be on display for a 4 month interval after which new displays will be selected from applicants. Priority is given to Salmo Valley and Kootenay region artists and seasonal items during relevant seasons. Both individuals and groups may apply. Applications are received on an ongoing basis. For more information or to apply, please visit the website page: Village Art Windows.
