Civic Works staff were joined by volunteers from the Salmo Lion’s Club, other volunteers, Councillors and representatives from Blue Imp, the equipment suppliers, to install the new, Canadian-made playground at Lions Park. They all worked extremely hard to put it all together and in place and deserve all our thanks for their hard work.
Excitement in the community is very high over this project which was made possible by a $32,397 Outdoor Revitalization grant from the Columbia Basin Trust (CBT), the generous donation of the U-Swing by the Salmo Lions Club and the Village supporting the remaining costs of approximately $8,000.
At this time we are waiting on delivery of the slides to complete the play apparatus installation and spread the pea gravel base. Delivery and installation is expected sometime during the week of August 30th.
We ask that park visitors be cognizant of the fact that the installation is not yet complete and be aware of any danger arising from playing on it before installation is complete. Please do not remove the DANGER tape.
The playground is a much needed addition to this park space and is a continuation of the Village’s efforts to revitalize it that were begun with the creation of the Art Wall in the recycling fence and flowers at the curling rink. Works that were also made possible by a grant from the CBT.
