The Mayor and Council invite residents to provide their input on a proposed amendment to Zoning Bylaw #489 via Bylaw #698 at a public meeting to be held at 7:00 pm on Tuesday, September 18th, 2018 at the Salmo Valley Youth & Community Centre.
Changes in this proposed update to Zoning Bylaw #489 are to include cannabis and cannabis-related items in the Definitions and the General Requirement Sections 3.9 and 3.10, and re-number the General Requirements from 3.9 on to 3.11. These changes prohibit any type of cannabis-related business in any of the Village’s zones.
The long-term intention of Council is to incorporate zoning for cannabis-related businesses into the next version of the zoning bylaw once;
- the new OCP is passed;
- public input is received during the zoning bylaw process on how village residents want to see cannabis sales and/or production handled; and
- to ensure that there is time to properly study and incorporate federal and provincial regulations into the bylaw.
You may provide input on the bylaw amendment by email to [email protected] or letter to PO Box 1000, Salmo, BC V0G 1Z0, providing your submission is received before Monday, September 17, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. You may also attend in person at the public hearing to present submissions.
All written submissions are subject to public disclosure and must include your name and residential address. No submissions on the above bylaw will be received by Village Council following the conclusion of the public hearing.
